History Walks

Guided Walks 2025

Walks each Wednesday and Thursday at 2.30pm from July to 11th September

Come and join a guide from Braemar Local History Group for a fascinating insight into Braemar’s heritage.  Walks start from the Invercauld Arms Hotel.

Learn about the last Jacobite survivor of Culloden, and hear about his colourful past.  Discover the inspiration behind Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island and the gentle ghost that haunts the holiday cottage.  Hear about Queen Margaret’s magic bible and how it was rescued from the River Dee.  See the weather observatory where Britain’s lowest ever temperature was recorded in 1982.

Walks last 75 minutes and all ages are welcome.  We don’t charge for the walks, but would appreciate a donation to Braemar Local History Group.

Your guide will normally be Doug Bruce, a member of the BLHG.

All welcome!
